MISSION TO THE WORLD JAPAN

welcome

We are excited to see how God is working in Japan! As of 2023, Mission to the World Japan has 100 career missionaries, including various nationalities and collaborating mission agencies, and this number is growing every year. We focus on church growth by planting new churches and assisting Japanese nationals through evangelism and discipleship, recognizing that many ministries are crucial to assist in these church planting movements. We engage in seminary training, faith & work ministries, faith & art ministries, Christian grade school education, publishing, and much more.

history

Missionaries in Mission to the World’s tradition first arrived in Japan in 1948. The following year they helped begin Tokyo Christian Theological Seminary, which helped establish today’s 日本長老教会 (Presbyterian Church in Japan). MTW Japan officially began in 1982, inheriting missionaries already in Japan and expanding into multiple church-planting teams.
